JOHNNY POLANCO Y
CONJUNTO AMISTAD. Johnny Polanco is one of the most
sought-after bandleaders in in the U.S. He has gained the
distinction for making the type of contagious Latin Music that
is truly appreciated by the dancing connoisseurs. Empowered by
the extensive knowledge accumulated throughout nearly 35 years
of professional musicianship, the leader of L.A.'s Conjunto
Amistad is an autodiatic artist who has achieved a high degree
skill of 13 instruments which include the tres and cuatro
guitar, trombone, vibes and many more.
POLANCO has
toured/recorded or performed with Johnny Pacheco, Cachao, Ray
De La Paz, Charlie Zaa, Herman Olivera, Tito Puente Jr., Jimmy
Bosch and many others. His T.V. credits include MOESHA, NEW
LOVE BOAT, BUDDY FARO, FIRED UP and others. Film credits
include DEATH WITH SMOOCHIE, DANCE WITH ME, CONTACT, I LIKE IT
LIKE THAT and KNOCKOUT. T.V. Commercials include MILLER LITE
BEER, NIKE, and others. CONJUNTO AMISTAD was formed in
February, 1993. This band has influenced the growth and
popularity of Salsa music for nearly a decade.

Vocalist Mirley
Espinoza, known by his fellows musicians as "Chino El Sonero",
was born in the city of Alajuela, Costa Rica, on July 22,
1967. In 1990 he joined the Opa Opa International Orchestra
with which he recorded his first CD for Warner Brothers in
1995. Chino then took advantage of the many offers he received
to become a member of other top musical groups, including the
Malibu Salsa All Stars, The L.A. Jazz All Stars, The RMM All
Stars Band of the west coast and tribute to Tito Puente with
the Eddy Palmieri Orchestra. Chino also performed with many
orchestras formed to accompany top touring artist such as:
Celia Cruz, Eddy Santiago, Rey Sepulveda, Tito Puente Jr, Tito
Gomez, Jesus Enriquez, Miles Pena, Many Manuel, Domingo
Quinonez, Tony Vega, Hernan Oliveira, Michael Steward and
Jerry Medina. Chino has also participate in many musical
festivals where he has shared the stage with such great
talents as Mark Anthony, Los Panchos, Charlie Zaa, El General,
El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico, Los Hermanos Rosario, Sheila E
and Pet Escobedo, Poncho Sanchez, Los Munequitos De Matanza,
Oscar D'Leon, and others. In 2000, Chino was an invited
artist at The Alma Awards where he performed a tribute to
Carlos Santana. In 2002, he returned to the Alma Awards and
participated with singers Nelly Furtado and Juanes in the
recording of a music video clip. Chino has been featured on
many recordings, including: Bobby Rivas, Bolivia, Opa Opa,
Mojaditicos, Pete Escobedo, Pete Escobedo, Bette Midler,
Bette, Los Del Barrio, Rumba Grande, Produced by Charlie
D'Cali where he snag with Camilo Azuquita, Cali Aleman and
Bebo More, among others. Furthermore, he realized a recording
with the Colombian Orchestra Canizal on which he sang songs
dedicated to the country of Colombia composed by Leon Venegas;
these songs reflect a variety of musical styles such as
cumbias, merengues, and salsas. For many years Chino was also
the lead singer for the Orchestra Son Mayor. As an actor,
Chino was also in television productions including the PBS
series ¡American Families¡ where he acted with Edward James
Olmos And Raquel Whelch. He has also done various television
commercials; the most recent of which was a Dr. Pepper
commercial with the Mexican singer, Thalia.
PRESENT Chino currently resides in Los Angeles and
together with Dimelo! Records has assembled a new big band
salsa orchestra named "Los Dueños Del Son". The band is lead
by Chino's brother Cesar Espinoza and their recording has been
produced by Hector Manuel Rivera, (of Orquesta Tabaco Y Ron
fame), "Pura Vida" is the first release under this dream team
authority, and is already taking the Salsa Community by
storm!

Orquesta Tabaco Y Ron is the most
exciting Salsa band today. Their high-energy, hard-edged
brand of salsa music has appealed to devoted salsa
dancers and Latin music DJ's worldwide. OTR is a 12
piece "Big-Band" orchestra, composed of musicians from
all over Latin America including Puerto Rico, Cuba,
Costa Rica, Venezuela, Peru, Colombia and Mexico. OTR's
stunning rhythms create a contagious energy that revives
the almost extinct salsa sound of generations past.
Since 2000, Orquesta Tabaco Y Ron has recorded four
studio albums and one remix compilation for Dimelo!
Records. These recordings were accepted with
positive and gratifying reviews by new and old fans,
earning them numerous tours to various cities and
countries. Their arsenal of hard salsa tracks has gained
OTR recognition and respect by tropical music
aficionados worldwide. HECTOR MANUEL RIVERA Hector
Manuel Rivera has produced and arranged all five
Orquesta Tabaco Y Ron productions. He has solely
recorded, engineered and mastered the majority of their
releases. He is also the piano player, band leader and
is known to his fellow musicians as "El Pianista Del
Barrio." Born and raised in San Juan, Puerto Rico,
Hector Manuel discovered his passion for music at the
age of nine while being inspired by such artists as the
Sonora Ponceña and Papo Luca on the piano. These great
artists influenced the young aspiring musician to become
fascinated by the sound of salsa music, later triggering
him to become obsessed with the piano. Hector Manuel
would eventually claim the piano as a musical weapon of
his own.

Son Mayor features 12 of L.A.'s
hottest latin musicians playing a mixture of
vintage latin and contemporary Cuban styles. The
band was begun in 1988 by the Ortiz brothers. From
humble beginnings, this musical family has made
Son Mayor one of L.A.'s most sought-after salsa
bands, opening for and playing alongside such
greats as Chucho Valdez at the Hollywood Bowl;
Tito Puente, Celia Cruz, Los Van Van, Sonora
Ponceña, Oscar D'León, El Canario, Ozomatli, and
Los Muñequitos De Matanzas.
In 2001, Son Mayor was invited by Jennifer
Lopez to play at her wedding in Calabasas, California, performing
before an exclusive audience. The band continues to perform for
countless corporate events and special occasions, and can be
heard in such well-known premier salsa clubs in
L.A. and San Francisco as the Conga Room,
the Century Club, Mama Juana's, Steven's Steakhouse, and Granada. Not surprisingly,
LA Weekly voted Son Mayor as "Best Salsa Band" in
its annual Best of L.A edition.

Born and raised in Brooklyn New
York, percussionist Carlo López moved to Los
Angeles in 1992, were he has played with many
local band . In 2006 he made a dream come true
by releasing a CD in homage to the music he grew
up with: the unique style of salsa played in New
York in the Seventies. Under the name The Echo
Park Project, Carlo Lopez featured some of the
best compositions of Machito, Tite Curet Alonzo,
Javier Vásquez, and Ramón Rodríguez, among
others, all representatives of the exciting the
salsa scene that once reigned in New
York.

Opa Opa is a Los Angeles based
band formed in 1987 by Oswaldo Bernard and
fellow Musician Anthony Apollo. The two
men set out to use their musical talent, honed
since childhood, to create a band that would
have a distinctive sound. Rich percussive
rythms, remarkably unique vocals and robust
brassy horns combine together to make up the
powerful sound that differentiates Opa
Opa!
